CHEST OF DRAWERS
It is from the period of George III, Regency, George IV, William IV, that we have our main selection. rare serpentine form, straight front, bow front, some with ogee feet, bracket feet, splayed feet, carved scroll feet, turned feet, depending on the period of the chest. Each has its own excitement, matched flame veneers or good solid figured mahogany, inlays, cross banding, canted corners, reeded corners, all in great condition.
The evolution into the fine period chest of drawers, started with the ascent to the Throne of Charles II in 1660, the crude oak chest changed to fine inlaid walnut with the influence of the returning court from France. By the time George III came to the Throne in 1760, rococo influence was beginning to change into the neo classic of Robert Adam.
